This does not surprise me, as I have long time believed that this type of power play would occur. Life on the internet, as we know it, has always been tenuous at best. It's not only a greed gig. It's also a control gig.

One thing I have learned working the arena of computers is that no large security system ever works. They can try to block you, but with a little time and inginuity those that seek will find. Before the days big internet their was the world of BBS's, with BBS you would litteraly dial in to the computer of someone hosting it, and could talk share files, and basicaly do all that you can do now. With the internet becoming what it has become the BBS became no longer neccisary and has faded away, but a similar system could easily be set up should they try to control the internet.
Alos I think from a buisness perspective that their is no way all of the ISP's will switch to this, free market should work it self out where the small guy will continue to offer on censored internet, and will becoome the provider of choice, then everyone else will confrom or fail. The only worry I would have is if the GOV got involved and mandated it. But we as the people will have to stand up to that. |
Don't take my word for it, Look it up.
