No one ever leaves Islam, according to a judge in Egypt who has cited Islamic religious law in rejecting a request from a Muslim convert to Christianity to be allowed to change his religious affiliation on his national identification card.

In a decision that forecasts more and more decisions being based on Shari'a, Islam's religious law, Judge Muhammad Husseini has concluded it violates the law for a Muslim to leave Islam.

According to a report from Compass Direct News, the judge found that the convert, Muhammad Hegazy, "can believe whatever he wants in his heart, but on paper he can't convert."

The report said Husseini cited Article II of the Egyptian constitution, making Islamic religious law the "source" of Egyptian secular law, as the basis for his conclusion.

Since Islam is the "final" and "most complete" religion, Muslims already have full freedom of religion and are not allowed to return to the "less complete" Christianity or Judaism, the ruling said.

They seem to contradict themselves by first saying that they can believe what they want in their hearts but cant change it on paper (national ID), but them proceed to pull people out of a Christian meetings and torture them demanding they "come back". If you can't leave how can you be asked to come back? Islam makes no sense.

Hello Robski,

Welcome to the world of Dar-Al-Islam... where little makes sense. It's the same all over the world... like Hotel California, you can check out anytime you like but you can never leave.

In Malaysia three is a case regarding someone named Lena Joy, a woman who for all intents and purposed, converted out of Islam to Christianity years ago. She applied to have that changed in her national identity card and other official documents but the courts pussyfooted around this in deference to the Syariah court. So the case was blown wide open to the public and now we have a situation that is constitutionally critical. Some Muslims think that she should be allowed to convert but the clerics know that it is against the Shariah. The non-Muslims are aghast at this, and even more flabbergasted when told that she has to undergo counselling by Islamic officials for at least two years before being granted the right to leave Islam, which cannot happen in any real Shariah case!

So now Malaysia is at a crossroads: Constitutional Law or Shariah Law -- which is higher? The Constitution was crafted to allow freedom of religion in this plural society but is now being hijacked by the Muslims. What else is new?
The reverence of Yahweh is the beginning of Wisdom.

These clowns need to read their own scriptures. They make it quite clear that all people are predestined to be either blessed by Allah or damned by him. Their actions, beliefs, behavior, or legal status printed on the National Identity Card have no bearing on the matter. A guy could be elected Pope and if Allah chose him to be a muslim, then he's still a muslim (according to the Sunnah), destined to be one of the blessed 70,000 admitted to paradise. Muhammad himself said he had no such assurance of his salvation. The propheteer (piss be onto him) did say, however, that almost all women are predestined to go to hell. So if Lena Joy is predestined to go to hell, what's the big problem with letting her carry an identity card that merely confirms what Muhammad already said?
