Subject: question

Dear Yada,

We are reading your Yada Yahweh, Book 2, Chapter
7, Yowm Kippurym and understand your picture painted
about the word afflicted not meaning fast. However,
when I read in Acts 27 verse 9, it mentions "THE
FAST", meaning the Day of Atonement. We looked in the
Greek (Strongs Concordance) and it confirms the use of
the word "fast" for the Greek word. How should this
read, considering what you have revealed? Is it
incorrectly translated or what are we to think? We
look forward to your reply. Thank you for all your
work, it is greatly appreciated and anticipated.

"B",

The text doesn't say that the time of "going without food" was over, but that it had already (ede) arrived (parelelythenai). The 21st verse speaks of them continuing to go without food. So, I don't see any reason to associate this with Yowm Kippurym. The Miqra' wasn't mentioned by name nor was Sukah. And the time without food continued through the 14th day in verses 33 and 34.

If Paul were fasting, it may have been as a means of focusing on the sufficiency of the provision from Yah just as Yahushua did in the wilderness--and not tied to the observance of a Miqra. Further, we don't have a pre-Constantine MSS for Acts 26, meaning that we don't have anything which is remotely reliable. So we can't over analyze the Greek words.
