For people who are not aware, I emcee. I rap. Not sure how many like rap here, but just wanted to extend an opportunity for my brothers and sisters to hear some stuff that I have been working on. You can check out one of the songs I just recently posted on myspace. Myspace.com/godfreysjournal. There is a lot more music to come and I am very excited about it all. I hope someone out there enjoys!

That's sooooo sweeeeet! I really enjoyed that, brought a huge smile to my face and I'm not usually a rap fan, but that Marinate tune was just pure brilliance, the opening lines are pure class.

While listening to the song, I see why rap is so catchy (even cool, well this one is), because you get to put a lifetime of words into one song, you can explain a whole story in 3 minutes.

Did you produce this baby yourself? Was it your voice?

So glad it was enjoyed. SO glad. Yeh, that was me rapping. My friend Jeremy sung the hook. I actually performed it live last night at a place called The Pour House downtown. I had a lot of fun doing it live. Gosh. I will have more songs up before too long.

Thought I would post some lyrics to a song I recorded called "Cancer." You can hear it at www.myspace.com/godfreysjournal

Deception in politics is cancer - Thinking that you got all the answers is cancer
Willful ignorance thats cancer - Ten year olds making fly kicks in them sweatshops cancer
Fifteen hours a day with hardly no pay, did i mention - disgusting working conditions thats cancer
Psychological manipulation - appealing to the senses through reality tv dramatization

The socio-political construction of race thats cancer - designed to hoard wealth, while everybody else self-destructs
Plus - people thinking that they "black" when they could be Oulof - I swear thats wack
It's easy to see, if you strip a person of their identity, they implode mentality - its cancer
Stratification and inequality caused by capitalism and greed cancer

Lights, camera, action - media controlled by elite factions - cancer
Portraying images of minorities as criminals cancer - determining what's proper and good
They say if you "hood", or look anything like you "hood" then you cancer - cancer
Denying a man a job and meat to eat 'cause of the way that he speaks thats weak and it's cancer

All religions from catholicism to christianity to islam cancer
Through tradition, people are regulated by what God never mandated and its cancer
The Creator wants companionship with mankind - ferocity, cancer - hypocrisy, cancer
Lack of sympathy and love for the next man that be cancer - its killing us, cancer - its killing us cancer

Bias in standardized tests, that be cancer - teachers treating little kids like animals
Because they don't reflect middle class values - and they might be a little dirty
But that doesn't make 'em unworthy of getting the same education as rich little Ernie
You got the rich kids picking on the poor - the poor lashing back like "take my wrath" its cancer

Indifference to, or attacking YHWH's perfect sacrifice thats cancer
Commercial hip-hop and its cliches - get the guap, get the cheese, copp the drop, cock the glock
Now squeeze - Where the freaks? Make em hot, watch em drop, to they knees, slob a cock
Then its two fingers peace - I swear these record labels got dudes on their knees, and its killing music
Its all cancer

Here are the lyrics to "Marinate" which is also at www.myspace.com/godfreysjournal

I grab my pen and my paper, transcend to another place - i'll see you later
I'm meditating on historic events, I'm meditating on them ancient scripts
Levitating like an angel but my name aint Chris, on my shoulder is no dandruff but a couple of chips
Chardonnay in my glass - i take a couple of sips
Instrumental on blast, snares a couple of kicks -- they so sick
I just wanna chill with no drama - where's Maury Povich - or Ricky Lake
I need a break for my mental sake, see me take, a couple of hours and just marinate
Separate myself from people who be actin' fake
Me and solitude have a date- and she told me do not be late
I'm showing up with flowers, chill mode activate

Can I live, Can I breathe
A little bit of solitude is all I need
Couple deep breaths and i'm at it again
My only true friends are my pad and my pen

It just so happens, i'm close to my pad and pen like Sam - and Frodo Baggins
See us relaxin and laughin - basking together, companions no matter the weather
I swear it's all passion when I'm passin my soul to my pad - I'm Steve Nashin
Deep incisions with my pen, creating artful curves
Transplant surgery as i place my heart in words, a lot more than nouns and verbs
I know it sounds absurd, but I would rather chill with you
Than clowns who be following the herd, who swallowing media's turds
Wallowing in ignorance, its sickenin and I'm sick of it - it's ridiculous and some know it
Others are the systems victims
That's the reason why my lyrics is meticulous I'm staying true and never fictitious

Repeat Chorus

(Ahhhh) Do you hear that? That's the sound of relief
As I dwell by myself far away from fake peeps
Around you they act one way - others come around it's another OK
I aint got time for this babe, I gotta burn rubber
Pedal to the metal - I gotta bury this, where's my shovel? It's my biz
To tell it like it is - I'm on my Aaron Neville
Seeking others on my level - Mentality so rebel as I revel at the thought of revolution
That won't be sparked by any man - Give me spins, I'll change the climate like a ceiling fan
True company - No chance of silly friends
It's depressing times, but pressing I'm trynna stay giddy like Hello Kitty fans
And lyrics stayin' blazin' cajun like a box of Zatarains

The finished version of a song I recorded called "Them Days" is up at myspace.com/godfreysjournal. The theme is basically the days that Yah speaks of in which the craziness, sorrow, and grievousness of this life will be done away with. For anyone who decides to check it out, I hope that you enjoy. Shalom in Yah.

thanks robski. here are lyrics.

I wanna see them days when at 14 years of age ladies aint got babies
Crazy cause homeboi copped a mercedes, or a watch not tickin
They not trippin cause they been sippin that stuff
Not strippin trynna copp fast bucks, Selling themselves getting slapped up
But keep backing it up, quite heavy like mack trucks

I wanna see them days when government is pure with justice no deceit
And minorities aint got beef with feds, Truth reigns globally and isn't hidden like easter eggs
Citizens stay smiling, cause officials and magistrates aint wylin'
Unmarked cars aint coasting, patroling, racial profiling - being unreal like fake diamonds

Chorus: Them days where the sun gon' shine, Them days where no one gon die - Oh, oh, ohhhh X2

I wanna see them days when cultures aint heavily segregated, never fading
And diversity could never be over-rated, never jading
Rapping over Indian music on blast, dressed in a kimono
Language barrior is a thing of the past, thats dope yo
Cual es tu numero de telefono - Oh No!

I wanna see them days when war doesn't even exist anymore
The race of men is non-violent, we stay to ourselves like islands
We don't drop bombs, we'd rather laugh like sitcoms
Join arms and drop psalms, no more fightin' over heavy metals - like silver, Long John's
Or any other heavy metals, even rock songs

Chorus

I wanna see them days when people aint starving and dying from aids
Being wiped off the map like egyptian plagues, stomach look full but aint ate a meal in days
Got no place to stay - homeless on the site, boozed and liquored up - trynna stay warm at night
No more famines ripping through the land causing food rations to sink like quick sand

I wanna see them days when dudes aint husting bakin' pies
Throwing up gang signs but got changed lives, throwing up props to the Most High
We got bodies - glorified, dressed in righteous acts, fresh kicks to match
New names, brims low, rocking fitted caps
We aint chasing dough, nor hoes, pleasure in the presence of Yahuweh Tsidkenu

Chorus

SGF,

Awesome album. I like your passion, keep Steve Nashin.

The lyrics are great (the best part) and the mix is very professional.

"Nashin"?

Is that like "weeping, wailing and nashin' of teeth"?

It's ok not to like rap music. People have what they like and do not like. And, essentially, rap is poetry - definitely. But it is nice to hear that you like my lyrics, I really appreciate that :)

Dear Proletariat

Dear proletariat, i see you strugglin, hustlin each and every day
selling your strength for pay but without much to show for it
only no health care or limited resources for your children
some of whom attend school in dilapidated buildings
some say i'll see yah later cuz its hard to write a report with water drippin on yah paper
so they report to the block tryin to get some paper
kinda funny how the same dead guys who perpetuated lies are the same ones you need on them green bills to survive

Dear proletariat, you work hard like a single mother
stressed out cuz the bills keep coming - baby shouts teens in the streets gunnin
cuz you gotta work all day - dad aint around for whatever reason - guess he couldnt stay
maybe there's a small chance he didn't want it this way
maybe he wanted to see his kids graduate in May but i guess this is just speculation

Dear proletariat, you keep waitin - waitin for the time when you aint always gotta be on your grind
waitin for the time when yah teeth dont grind from worrying so much b/c you got the world on yah shoulder - global warmings making you feverish - sometimes you think its over feeling grievous
you want to throw in the towel b/c its just too much
you bustin yah butt while somebody else is making big bucks off your labor
slavery is alive and well its just economic this time and has become somewhat colorblind
