Is this really the twilight zone? Questions about a funeral?

I live in Thailand and it seems everyday I know of someone who dies and my wife has to go to the funeral!

So this question arises in my mind to learn what the scriptures specify as to the funeral process!

Here they have a funeral pyre with wood or an oven at the temple, so it is the practice to burn the body, not to bury!

I know the Patriarchs were placed in a tomb after preparations were made. This is often what we see in ancient times.

So should the funeral be a personal choice, burn, bury or find a tomb?

My feeling is it does not really matter, but please comment if you have other information or thoughts.

Sorry, this may be a subject many don't want to even think about, though for me I don't have a problem with it!

Thanks
When a man who is honestly mistaken hears the truth, he will either quit being mistaken, or cease being honest!
