Just thought I would post this here, I know I use it frequently to check what is and what isn't in the oldest Greek Manuscripts. This is from the table of contents of the The Text of the Earliest New Testament Greek Manuscripts. It lists each chapter and verse as well as which manuscript it can be found in.

I'm thinking a fun and interesting project would be to go through and compile all of the verses that aren't extant and see how many of them are the most cited.

What made me think to do this was when I looked up the "Turn the other cheek" verse and found it was not extant. So it would be interesting to see what verses are not extant.

Thanks James. That would be interesting to see oft quoted ones.

Like Appalacia pentecostal tongue talkin', snake handling, poison drinkers, authorization from the end of Mark for instance ;^)

Thankx James. It is easier to read. My browser pages roll when I am
trying to read.

Quick question if you don't mind : Are the little dots( forgot proper
word) in hebrew letters just for pronunciation or do they change spelling
also? Sometimes the words look the same without them and sometimes
they don't. Maybe it's my imagination. Thankx

BTW: how many "checks" were you planning on turning? LOL

Okay so I decided to take on the project of compiling the verses that are extant and aren't extant. I am using the ISR Scriptures translation in e-Sword to compile them. I am separating the verses into two documents extant and non-extant. A few facts to bare in mind:

1)I'm extremely prone to error so I may have got some wrong, if you find something wrong please let me know.

2)Just because a verse is not extant does not necessarily mean that it was not written, just that we do not have a first, second or third century manuscript of it.

3)I am not endorsing the ISR translation as a good one, just better than most in that they use more accurate names and don't use LORD.

4)Some of the extant verses are extant in multiple manuscripts, I do not mark this in the compilation but it is marked in the table of contents I posted earlier so you can check it there.

5)I have not checked rather the extant verses differ with the current text, may do this if I have time in the future. So just because it is extant does not mean that it is the same as we have today.

I have completed compiling Mattanyah/Matthew and am posting it now. I will post each book as I go.

Interesting to note with Mattanyah the extant verses take up roughly 9 pages, the non-extant verses take up 38

They are diacritical marks called niqqud. Their stated purpose it to serve as vowel points since it is claimed that Hebrew has no vowels. However study of the language shows that it in fact has five vowels and they are not needed at all. Every Hebrew word can and was for centuries pronounced without them, they only serve to limit the meaning of words to control understanding. In other words it is said that a word with the same base pointed one way means X and pointed another way means Y, and the Masoretes decided which was which.

Hi again--I hope I'm not being a pain. I've only gotten ten pages into ITG. So far I see a clear presentation of the name, "Yahowah" (which is very satisfying to now finally grasp), but have not yet seen a similar exposition of Ma'aseyah's name.

I'm also noticing on the cover of a book by David Stern, that the name of Ma'aseyah is spelled differently than in ISR's The Scriptures: it is given as yod-shin-waw-ayin. The waw also is placed after the shin instead of before it. Of course this fits with the rabbinical-derived "Yeshua." I can understand how pronunciation might be debated, but isn't there a historical record somewhere that would establish how His name was actually spelled, so we don't have to debate the spelling too?

Thanks for your help.

^ Yahowsha's name, I seem to recall, is in the T/P/P 270 times. Most often as Mosheh's succesor Yahowsha' son of Nun. I think there is also a rarer use of "Yah cries out", rather than most common "Yah is salvation".
Also seem to recall there some different variations between Mashiach and Mas'sayah...."annointed" versus "Implement doing the work of Yah"....and even some scribal tampering, possibly replacing Ma'asayah with Mashiach.

But been a long time, and not sure of my accurate recall... so you might want to research for yourself.

The list in the first thread is of those verses that are extant in the oldest manuscripts. The subsequent attachments are one of those that are and one of those that aren't, just so you can compare.

Wow. Slim pickin's at best. I applaud Swalchy's commitment and Herculean efforts, though his continued focus on the Greek rather than on Yahowah's language, Hebrew, still saddens me.

Is there a new location for these files? None of the links work.
