"There was a problem trying to send the email" forum popup

Everytime I attempt to contact a forum member by email I receive an error popup in the forum's format which tells me that there was a problem trying to send the email. What could cause that?
I am logged in, using Firefox 3.6.3 on a Windows Vista Ultimate machine with all Microsoft updates and Java updates installed.

yes like I said - the forums are broken in that regard although it is probably a config error with the ASP. I would PM(button next to email -  ) the person - and then when they log in next they will get the message :) |
